We went to Bressingham Steam & Gardens earlier this month. It was a glorious sunny day .... when was that you ask yourself! Probably the only day that we had sun in June!
First thing we did was jump on a train! Train rides are always a winner with the kids. Then we went on the famous Gallopers. Not the carousel I hasten to add. Gallopers pre-date the carousel and it turns the other way!
We then had lunch in the delightful Al's Cafe which is opposite the gallopers, some tasty cakes - too many to choose from. All reasonably priced.
We then took a stroll over to the crazy golf, dodgems and penny arcade. The old penny machines were fascinating. Its amazing how intricate they are and how much modern ones have come on since these machines. The crazy golf was fun and there were a variety of clubs suitable for both my 6 and 9 year old. We didnt go on the dodgems but stood and watched for a while.
There were also a large number of seaside style ride on toys. Where you put in 50p and the move back and forth. My two were not really interested in these but we did have a look around and the lotus car style one kept my husbands attention for sometime!
We then had a look round the museum and the dads army museum. Both were very interesting and Im not a huge fan of museums. The old trains have ramps up to them so you can see inside the carriages. 'It's like somebodys house in a train mummy!' He wasn't wrong! Bedroom, Bathroom, living area.
We then took what we thought would be a short walk around the gardens. They are massive and seem to go on forever. Crammed full of all kinds of beautiful plants all carefully laid out and looked after. quaint little bridges, large pond - I loved it! But then I love a good garden large or small.
We plan to go back on one of the special event days when they have a character come along. Probably the Peppa Pig event this weekend!
It is worth noting that if you buy your tickets online you save on the entry fee!
