Africa Alive is near Lowestoft and it is a fantastic day out.
As Banham zoo season ticket holders we got in for free, however even if we had to pay the entry fee I would still have been very pleased with the day out.
There is plenty of car parking and most of the walk from the car park to the zoo is safe for the kids to wander. As an additional point of interest there is a hugh wind turbine in the car park - the kids would have stayed in the car park all day looking at if I had let them!
The one down point of the day was the length of time it took to get through the turnstiles. There were two people in the queue in front of us and we waited 12 mins. Which was far too long for my 6 year old.
However once we were in it was lovely. An excellent accesible walk around the park collecting ink stamps on a sheet to get a gold medal from the shop - just like Banham Zoo.
The Lion enclosure has a wooden walk way up to a raised area so you can view the lions from above - fantastic view!
The Rhino was another firm favourite you can get so close to it, so close you can see all the wrinkles in the skin.
On top of all of this there is an indoor and an outdoor play area. The indoor play area had lots of balls and several areas where you could feed the balls in and they go through a series of tubes. Plus Air cannons. The outdoor play area has swings, slide, climbing frame, see saw and lots more .
The cafe wasn't bad either. Good tasty food at a reasonable price. Although as soon as you leave your table the seagulls are finishing your leftovers!
